Principal's Message

Greetings Fox Valley Legend Families!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to the 2024-2025 school year! It is my sincere hope that you have enjoyed your summer; taking care of yourself, and spending time with those you love and the things you enjoy.

The Fox Valley staff are very much looking forward to welcoming ALL students, families, and our partners in Education to our school community!

As a school community, a part of our learning plan for the 2024-2025 school year will be to improve student outcomes through effective assessment practices that guide and strengthen responsive instruction, enhance opportunities for learners and families and support transitions as learners enter and progress through school to graduation and determine a life pathway, enrich and enhance mental health and well-being capacity in students, and actualize the vision and goals of Inspiring Success: Pre-K-12 FNMI Education Policy Framework. We will continue to focus on the needs and priorities of the Chinook School Division Provincial Education plan:

  1. Learning and Assessment;
  2. Indigenous Education;
  3. Mental Health and Well-Being, and;
  4. Student Transitions.

Staff are and will continue to develop activities in the classroom that promote classroom community and belonging. In addition, we will continue to listen to our students and find ways to support them in the ways they need. Building and enhancing trusting relationships are key to a successful year, and our staff will be working hard to establish this foundation. If there is anything you feel that your child’s teacher or the office should know, do not hesitate to reach out. Open and ongoing communication between home and school is one key of success for all.

The Fox Valley School Community is extremely fortunate to have such committed and caring individuals, working together to provide quality programs and activities to meet the educational and athletic needs of all students. We are appreciative of the leadership of the SCC, SRC, community coaches, volunteers, and parents who have and continue to step up to help in making school days positive, ensuring everyone belongs,  and creating memorable days.

I am eager and excited for a great year at Fox Valley School! Stay tuned for activities and events being planned.

Yours in teaching,

Laura Skrumeda Sawby  B Ed  CESIE  M Ed
