Another month of school has come and gone! Our boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams were busy throughout October developing their skills and competing throughout the city. Early this month we had our Fire Prevention week with special presentations from the local fire department for students in K-5 and a number of awesome prizes were awarded (i.e. Sputtergotch and Cinema Twins gift certificates, class pizza party, Fire Chief for a day, etc.). The highlight for me this month was our Get To Know The Family Night on Wednesday, October 23rd. We had 47 families attend this event, which was marked by delicious food, reconnection, and learning. Finally, our first SCC fundraiser of the year was a huge success this month, with our H5 Dough To Go fundraiser bringing in $3,140.00 for student activities and field trips!
There is much to look forward to in the month of November. Mrs. Caswell has been busy working with the choir and a number of students and classes in preparation for our Remembrance Day service on November 7th. All community members are welcome to attend. This November will include our annual Education Week, and the theme is “Learning is a Journey.” Stay tuned for some special school-wide activities for our students and staff. Finally, this month parents/guardians and teachers will have the opportunity to connect to discuss student learning and behaviour on November 13th and 14th.
