School Community Council Attendance Incentive
The province has set out goals and outcomes in their education sector strategic plan that Chinook School Division and MCCS are overlapping in their own plans. One of the main goals is to increase our graduation rates. An area of concern that is affecting these rates is student attendance. It is proven that lower attendance rates cause lower grades and success in credit attainment.
As a response to hopefully increase and promote stronger attendance within our school the School Community Council has come up with an Attendance Incentive for all MCCS students. Each month, starting in April, the SCC will calculate the attendance rate for every student in the school. Any student that has attended 90% or higher in the month will go into a draw. The SCC will draw a name from Grade 6-7, a name from Grade 8-9, and 2 names from Grades 10-12. The four names that are drawn from those that have a 90% or higher attendance rate will be given a $25.00 gift certificate from a business in Maple Creek. The SCC’s Incentive is designed to recognize those that have great attendance habits and at the same time promote and encourage others to pursue stronger habits of their own.
